The Big Game

This past weekend certainly was a busy weekend(which was quite disappointing since we had so many great college football match ups)! And so many things happened that should have been caught on camera but of course when I am busy, the first thing to go is the picture taking. Enjoy the few that were taken and try to imagine the rest. Saturday was the Silver Ring Thing in Bluffton. We took about 10 students from our youth group. Kaitlin (Kent's girlfriend) was kind enough to ride down here with Kent (he was in the SRT show) and babysit while we went. We were so thankful for her coming knowing that Keely very well may scream the whole time. And we were also very thankful that Keely didn't scream the whole time but actually did quite well (she fell asleep at 7:00 PM and slept until past 7:00 AM!!!). We had students over most of the afternoon to watch as much as the Clemson game as possible (we left before the devasting overtime). Keely wore her Clemson outfit and looked absolutely adorable. We did the Tiger Rag dance after every touchdown.
Doug was cracking me up Saturday with his excitement over the Ohio State v Texas game. He was watching the clock during the Silver Ring Thing, and when it was over, he was high tailing it out of there to get home. We got home in the middle of the second quarter. He immediately calls Brent to get an update on everything he missed. He then calls Brent or Brent calls him after every score. And forget trying to have a conversation with him. There were some students over watching it with us. And he asked one girl the same question in a matter of 3 minutes because he never heard the answer he was so into the game! I was so glad to have other witnesses to see the uptight fan he becomes during Ohio State football!
On Sunday we had our youth group kick off out on the river. And Keely wore her Ohio State outfit (which Doug over course was so very proud of). He let me put Clemson on her Saturday because she wore her OSU bib all day with it. But we had to celebrate the huge victory over Texas. He is already claiming another Fiesta Bowl national championship game. By the end of the weekend, we were all exhausted. I have spent today cleaning up (we had some over the Silver Ring Thing team stay with us this weekend) and preparing for the busy week ahead of us. Tomorrow we go stay with a family from the school while the parents are away for 3 days. Then Doug leaves for the middle school retreat. The good news is we will be back here together Saturday to enjoy college football!
