Three and Counting

On March 9, Kres turned 3 years old. He told me six months ago he wanted a monkey cake for his birthday. And six months later, he remembered. The good news was a friend had a monkey cake pan she let me borrow. The icing could have looked a little better but I would say overall it turned out pretty well. All of the kids liked helping make it of course. Wes' job was cleaning the bowl. Seems he did a pretty good job. And Kres was pretty excited when it actually looked like a monkey. So much so he informed me he wanted an elephant cake for next year (anyone have a pan).

We had a few of his friends over for a birthday lunch. He enjoyed all the attention opening presents and blowing out candles. And he has more pirate stuff than any boy should. It is amazing that we went from 0 swords six months ago to 15 now! He has even taught Wes how to say "hi-yay" when he swings the sword. And any teenage boy that walks into the house is fair game. He knows anyone unarmed cannot be attacked. Excpet Doug has led him to believe it is okay with older boys. We take
turns having battles with him. And he is gracious enough to even let us win sometimes.

The family gave him a trampoline (one of the small ones that fits in our family room on rainy days). It has been a perfect toy for all the children (which of course was the idea). And we ended his day with a traditional trip to Cheeburger Cheeburger.

As for what Kres is doing these days...well what isn't he doing. He is quite a little man. He loves sports of all types. Doug is in the midst of golf season again, so Kres works on his swing a couple of times a week. We have a basketball hoop in the garage and on the back of our room door so he works on his jump shot and lay ups daily. The football helmet is still a favorite gift from Christmas and we still play tackle every now and then. But he also adores his older sisters which means playing "Mommy and kid" or Barbies is also a favorite activity. He is so patient with baby brother Wes (who constantly follows him around wanting to play) most of the time. He seems to have gotten through the temper tantrum stage without really going through it (thank goodness). Maybe that is another difference between girls and boys.
And he always makes me smile whether it is by telling me: "Mommy, I like you sometimes. I like you when Daddy is not home" (trying to be sincerely sweet) or bringing his nonnies into my bed every morning to snuggle. Daily reminders that God has given me so many blessings, four of whom are named Keely, Macey, Kres and Wes.
