Summer at a Glance
My family has been going to Lake Keowee now for close to 15 years. Daddy has his house complete and what a blessing to have a place that is big enough for all of us to be together and actually enjoy it (instead of fighting for bathrooms, beds, room to breathe). This year's lake trip entailed taking Macey and Kres on their first hiking trip (Keely went in a backpack carrier when she was one). And Keely, Macey and Kres went fishing for the first time too and LOVED IT! Keely and Macey both caught a fish. Good thing we live near water so they can continue to pursue this interest!
While at the lake, Kres somehow decided he wanted to sleep with the girls instead of his own bed, so when we came down each night to go to bed, we would find them like this in bed asleep. The first night back at home he pitched a fit because I wouldn't let him sleep with them. I finally took him in for a 1 minute snuggle and carried him back to his room before he fell asleep. He has been good since.
The week at the lake ended with Macey celebrating her 4th birthday. All she wanted was swim shoes because her toes were raw from the bottom of the pool and a spinning toothbrush. She was delighted to receive both items and more. Daddy surprised her with Moe's chips and cheese dip after saying she wanted it all week. It has become her new favorite snack and fun outing with Daddy. Today she had her 4 year old well visit including a finger prick and shots. What a trooper she was! She cried only briefly when they gave her the shots but didn't put up a fight going into at all. I was so proud of her (I know it is because of her Aunt Casey teaching her good doctor habits).
Now we are home. And as wonderful as all the trips were, as sad as I am every year when my Suits vacation is over; I am ready to enjoy my home, my pool, my family and my summer!
