Trip to the Dentist

I took Keely and Macey for their first trip to the dentist this morning. I wanted to make the experience as pleasant as possible so I began prepping them several days in advance. They think the electric brushes Doug and I have are pretty cool so I told them the lady at the dentist would use a "spin" brush like ours to clean their teeth. I also told them it wouldn't hurt as long as they took good care of their teeth. So my girls other than being a little nervous were also excited about going. WOW! What a difference their dentist experience was compared to when I grew up. The waiting area had a room on one side to watch a movie and a room on the other side to play Wii while waiting to be called back. Since we don't have a Wii and movies are weekly treats, they were immediately amused. They both did exceedingly well in the chair doing exactly as asked. The got to choose chocolate chip cookie dough for their toothpaste flavor. And the fluoride treatment is a varnish they paint on. It has come a long way from the nasty trays I use to have to hold in my mouth for what seemed like an eternity and then feel nauseous for the next 30 minutes until I could eat and drink again. They actually gave the girls a cup of water immediately afterwords and told them not to brush tonight! The girls deserved the goody bags and toys they were awarded with and the Chick-fil-a lunch we picked up on the way home!
