Another Generation

This past weekend my dear grandfather, Bebop turned 90 years old. To celebrate, my mom and her three sisters threw him a birthday party "Memaw" style. They reserved the fellowship hall at my uncle's church and then invited "anyone who knew Bebop." They pulled out Memaw's old carnival games and prepared many party favorites. It was a great time seeing family and old friends. But the best part was Wes got to meet so many people who have meant a lot to me!

This is Barbara. She was my all time favorite babysitter and I think the only one who lasted all 8 children. She started babysitting for us when there were only 5 of us. And she stuck with us through thick or thin, ups and downs. She helped potty train, tube feed my brother Kres, she braved taking all of us to Chuck E Cheese, and even managed taking us all to church or whatever else we had going on. It has been years since I have seen her and recently reconnected with her. It was fun for her to meet my children! (And she did a great job babysitting Wes during the party while I walked around keeping up with the others.)

Being that it was a big year for Bebop and he has meant so much to me, I wanted to name a son for him. Wes' middle name is Kirk which is Bebop's name. Here is Wes meeting Bebop. What an honor!
This is my cousin, Wesley. Wes wasn't really named for him, but we were close growing up. And since they share names, I wanted a picture. Uncle Wesley, Bebop's brother was also there but I don't have that picture yet.

It really was a special day for a very special man. I just wish I had more pictures to share from it!
