Spring Brings New Beginnings

This spring I feel like we have a lot of new beginnings or "firsts" and what a perfect season to celebrate. After the longest winter we have had in our five years here, the warm weather was a welcome sight. And with it came several landmarks like our first trip to the beach and we even wore swimsuits!

The first of these landmarks was Kres' FIRST Birthday! Kres turned one on March 9. How the year has gone by. Being the little laid back, easy going boy he is, he still isn't walking much to my dismay. He can take 4-5 steps at a time but he would rather get down and crawl....even on sand, concrete, asphalt; the dirtier the better. We had an at home party for him with of course a family trip to Chick-fil-a for dinner since it happened to be Family Night (free kids' meals).

There are the girls singing to him (which they did about hundred times through out the day including as soon as they heard him crying at 8 am that morning). He would laugh every time which is why they continued to do it!Here he is opening cards and presents. He was laughing because he really could have cared less but I tickled him to get him to join the festivities. Again, the sisters were more than happy to help out.

The next new beginning is the fact that Doug and I are beginning to get consecutive nights of no children waking up in the night for the first time since December. Kres started having ear infections in December and constantly battled them until he finally was given his first (and hopefully) only set of tubes. The infections made our usually happy child fussy. The tubes have been a blessing. Kres is back to his old self (unfortunately he doesn't sleep through the night every night but he does most nights).

Keely started playing soccer this spring so I am a first time soccer mom (even have the minivan to prove it)! She is so excited and loves playing. It is her biggest social event. She could careless about getting the ball but loves running around after all the other girls laughing the whole time. And if someone tries to steal the ball from her, she gladly gives it to them. We are working on her agressiveness trying to teach her it is ok in sports after hammering how to play nice and share all the time!Brent sent our kids their first set of golf clubs so Doug now spends time with each of them working on their swing. I used to fight it not wanting a future of watching golf matches. But then I realized how much money there is in girls golf scholarships and decided it might be our best bet for getting college paid for!

Our last new beginning is a new life! I have just completed my first trimester in the pregnancy of our fourth child. I have been feeling pretty yucky (which seems to be the pattern for me and the reason for not blogging) but feel very blessed to have another little one on the way. I think many of you may have heard by now but we wanted to make the official announcement! The girls are so excited about Mommy's secret and have decided it needs to be a boy so our family will be even.

We hope your spring is blessed with as many new beginnings and firsts time ours has already!

Congratulations, Neely! I didn't know! When are you due? I vote for another boy too- it's so fun when they have a playmate:).

Thanks Anna! I am due Oct 4. I think a brother for Kres would be great. The girls are so cute together already.
