A Less Than Perfect Road Trip

If you know us, then you have heard me talk about our dear college friend, Alison. She is part of the family. We would watch her when her parents were out of town when she was in high school. She babysits for us whenever she is in town. We have discipled her, loved her, and watched her grow up for five years now. So when she chose to go to Ohio for college, it was hard to let her go! But God definitely has her there for a reason. She is playing soccer there as well. I have wanted to see her play for two years now. And this past weekend made the trek up there to do just that. People told me I was crazy to go such distances. After all that happened, I think I am!

We (Ruthie and the kids) left Thursday morning. I dropped the girls off at my parents', grabbed lunch then continued on. Half way to our first stop, I received a phone call, both girls were sick. But because my family was already exposed and Kres was with me, it was better for me to keep him away. The girls remained sick the entire weekend making it difficult for me to enjoy being gone.
But we made it to Cedarville and spent two days there. We also enjoyed time with Doug's aunts: Sister Margie and Rosie & Jim. Thank you so much for hosting us!! We dined at the local traditions of Skyline Chili and Graeter's ice cream. The only thing I didn't do, was shop for Ohio State goodies....sorry Doug.

Here is the local dive! Haha. Doug loves using this chili to make a dip for tailgating. He also loves the "3way" served over noodles with cheese. I got to see all the different selections and opted for the chili cheese sandwich.

This was after Alison's game. She played more than she has all season which was exciting for us! And Kres was happy to see her. I never even told the girls where I went because I knew they would be upset they couldn't see her too. She is definitely a fan favorite when it comes to our kids. (Don't worry Caca, you still take precedence.)

Cedarville really is in the middle of a bunch of corn fields. At one stretch of the road they are all you see on both sides. :)Chick-fil-a heard I was going to be at Cedarville. It was Chick-fil-a Day so they had sandwiches at all the athletic events. I, of course, enjoyed every bite. And yes, it was better than the Skyline.
