When Daddy's Away...

the kids will PLAY!!! Doug is in the Dominican Republic for his school's annual senior trip. I, of course, was dreading him being away. But my cousin, Mollie, came to stay with us. So I have been completely spoiled! She has helped out so much and made the time go by fast. The only down side is the weather. Who thought Hilton Head would have 60 degree weather in May!!! It has rained every day since she arrived. And the wind knocks everyone around! But after being stuck inside 3 days in a row, we finally got out and braved the weather. We couldn't believe we were having to dress in jeans and hoodies. However, even that wasn't enough to keep me warm at Dolphin Head. The girls didn't seem to mind and ran around so excited to be out and about. We packed a picnic lunch but had to eat it sitting in the back of the car because the wind was so bad! Notice in the sailboat picture the white caps in the background!!
Other highlights from the week include Gramps and Nan coming for a brief visit...long enough to help me pick out a new couch since our other one seems to literally be falling apart at the seams. And also long enough to spoil us with outings to our two favorite restaurants. More pics walking around the "fount" as the girls call it.

Another one of our favorite activities when we can't go out is dancing. In this picture, Keely and Mollie are practicing how to waltz like on HSM3 so Keely will be ready to dance with Walker and Jacob at Kent and Kait's wedding next week. She is so excited! It was a great workout for Mollie and me since we couldn't go running. Before the weather got bad and Daddy left on his trip, the girls and I went strawberry picking. A couple of friends were going so we tagged along. The girls were great pickers...and eaters. Every time I turned around, Macey had another one in her mouth. We had strawberries everyday for a week and still have some in the freezer! We try to savor them until we can get some more.As much fun as it has been with Mollie, we look forward to Daddy's return in a couple of days. And only two more weeks until family vacations! We are craving family time. The busyness of this spring is catching up with us now. The girls loved playing on this airplane pretending to fly Daddy home to us sooner! Good thing he wasn't really flying home that day. I think the wind would have caused major delays. As always, Doug will be amazed at how they have changed in a week. We will have fun filling him in on all our stories. And in another 2 weeks, we will forget what life without Daddy is like, SUMMER!!!
