Let it Rain?
The girls and I are feeling better than we have felt in weeks after a brief getaway to the mountains of North Carolina. Some good friends offered us their mountain house for the week. We were sad that Doug couldn't join us, but we didn't want to turn down the opportunity to possibly experience snow (first time for the girls) and just do nothing for a change. We picked up Yaya in Columbia and headed north (and for a southern belle it was far enough north for me)!
Most of the snow from the storm last week had melted but we had enough to let the girls see what it was. And of course I had to let them play with some. Since it was raining most of the time we were there, I filled a pot with snow, brought it into the house and we played with it at the kitchen counter! Keely wasn't sure what to think about it at first and being the little ocd she is, was hesitant about touching it. But once I got her over that, she really wanted to make a snowman. So we did!! I think we probably have a record for smallest snowman ever built but to the girls you would have thought it was a giant!

We did venture out one morning to try to take a morning walk. I thought the girls looked cute all bundled up. But everytime the wind would blow, Macey would laugh and Keely would let me know it was cold. So after climbing up one hill, we turned around and carefully walked back to the house. It may have only been a tenth of a mile but it felt like 10 miles! It was enough to rejuvenate us and inspire us to make the most of our time indoors. Yaya and I did just that. We relaxed the whole time. We took turns napping, reading, sitting around. The girls entertained each other well and we made up new games for them as well. Like I said, it was the perfect getaway and just what we needed to get our physical and spiritual health back!
