It is official! I am a minivan mom. We have actually had our minivan for almost three weeks now but I am only now willing to formerly announce it. For the past two and half years I have been driving a Highlander. And I absolutely LOVED it. It had everything I ever wanted in a vehicle and more! It drove incredibly well and it was just the right size for me...bigger than a car but not too big. But the three kids were crammed in the back seat and once we have to turn Kres around, they wouldn't all fit. So we started looking since it is a good time buy. We told a couple of dealerships what we were looking for and our price range. Only one was willing to work with us and they actually found one in our price range. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that some of the minivans have but it does have a couple of things that make toting three little ones around much easier including a power sliding door, cassette and cd player, and a lot of luggage capacity. So after taking a week to mourn the loss of my beloved highlander, then a surprise visit from my parents in the highlander (meaning they bought and I can still drive it whenever I am in town), I now am a happy, proud minivan owner.
(Though I must admit, I still cringe when the teens call me soccer mom.)
This morning while the girls were playing, they started this venture of building something out of pillows, chairs, and baby strollers. They each kept saying we need a door here and another door here. I couldn't figure out what they were doing until the end. They each sat in a chair and started driving. Then Keely responds, "Look Mom, we're driving our babies in our car." I thought it was creative and cute. I guess they want to join the minivan mom club too.
