"Children are a gift of the Lord!"

I love being able to look back at old posts and know that it is in a way a journal of my parenting years. I love knowing that years down the road, I will have this blog to look back and remember. And now I laugh at myself as I look at how no matter how hard I try to get better at posting more often, the posts get fewer and far between. I laugh because it is the same disease all parents have...the more children you have, the less time you take to record the memories, take pictures, put together baby books and photo albums. But once again, I am making time to quickly jot down some of my favorite moments over the past few weeks. The first comes first thing in the morning a couple of weeks ago. It was golf season which means Doug is not around a lot. Kres climbs out of bed and comes into my bed to snuggle. It is the only time I get "loving" from him because he prefers Daddy. Kres looks up to me very sweetly and sincerely and says: "Mommy, I do love you sometimes. I love you when Daddy isn't here." I know he meant well so I took it as a compliment. Wes is now an active 19 month old. He talks like a two and a half year old. And he loves the pool. The first days we went this year, he walked straight in, fell over and then stayed on the edge playing. Enter Daddy's first trip to the pool. Daddy showed him how to jump in and let him catch him. Daddy showed him he can walk all the way to the rope without going under (though if he falls he can't get himself up). Daddy showed him how to make Mommy's trips to the pool a little more exciting and less relaxing. Now I must teach Kres and Wes how to swim this summer. Good thing we have such a nice pool and proficient swimming sisters! The girls and I spent the night at Caca's apartment several months ago and instead of watching a movie, we stayed up late watching TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress.". We all fell in love so I will look episodes up online for us to watch. Now the girls not only talk about their weddings, but they actually play "Say Yes to the Dress.". They pull dresses out and try them on and then describe what they like and don't like. I have even used it to make Sunday mornings easier. On Saturday night, I pick out several dresses for church and then they "Say Yes" to one to wear the next day. No arguments on Sunday about what to wear. So what do my days look like right now? I get up around 5 three days a week to meet friends to run. I get up before the kids everyday for devotions. Keely wakes up around 6:30 but is supposed to stay in her room until 7 am. The boys usually wake up around 7 and Macey 7:30 or 8 am. We snuggle, read and talk in bed until7:30. The. We eat breakfast. After breakfast, I do school individually with Keely and Macey but also work with the boys some. I have also started giving the kids chores each day. They love the responsibility. Once chores and school is done, we can do our fun activity or outing for the day (play dates, pool, park, store). We still have quiet times every afternoon when naps are over, it is free play until dinner, family time (usually a walk) and baths, Bible and bed time. It is busy, but I love having all the children at a point where they play well together. And as much as I miss the baby stage, I must say it is nice to just enjoy playing with my kids and not feeling too sick, tired, or nursing to just sit and watch them. So there is a quick update of my life right now.
