Mommy's Day
The weekend was a nice and relaxing one. Doug ended up with the stomach bug Thursday and Friday but by Saturday we were all ready to enjoy Mayfest. It is a big street festival held in downtown Bluffton the Saturday before Mother's Day each year. It is always fun to go because we can walk there from our house. And there is so many fun things to do...activities for the kids, yummy local food, booths to look through, and mostly to see all the people! Afterwards we all came back and took a long nap because the excitement wore us out!
That night we enjoyed a relaxing dinner with friends (and had a sitter watch all the kids). The adult time was so nice, it was 8:30 before we knew it and time to claim the kids. By the size of the mess in our house, it was obvious they had fun. I don't think there was a single toy left on the shelf.
Sunday was a sweet day. Doug wanted to make it extra special by giving me a "day off." He tried so hard. When Macey woke up early, he volunteered to get up with her. But I never was able to get back to sleep. Then I walked in on him putting together a card for me. But he took pride in his lunch plans! He went to the store and got everything (except veggies of course). When he went to grill the steaks he had no gas. So while he was tracking down some gas, I went ahead and cooked the veggies, potatoes, and rolls. The girls couldn't hold off any longer, so while he cooked the steaks, I fed them and put them to bed. He came in all distraught that I hadn't had the day off from making lunch and caring for the girls. But I told him it was worth it to be able to enjoy my nice meal alone with him. Plus, all the drama makes the story so much more fun.
Here's me being a proud mommy with my two sweet daughters after church on Sunday. Everytime I am holding the two of them I'll squeeze them and say "Mommy's got her girls!" So now, Keely says "Got girls!" everytime I grab them both. I love it!
