My Baby is Two

As if my emotions haven't been through enough lately with my oldest starting school, today my BABY turned two!  I know it is just two.  But as he comes running into the kitchen today while I was getting dinner ready, I didn't hesitate to stop what I was doing and sit down on the kitchen floor with him to play.  And it was then the tears emerged.  I loved him running in with the puzzle yelling, "Mommy, pay wif me, Mommy pay wif me."  He has almost mastered all the board puzzles (even the Sesame Street ones Yaya) and soon he won't need my help.  And as I sat and played all I could think about was how fast this most favorite part of toddlers is passing.  I remember with each of the others watching them out grow this stage but knowing there was another one to go through it. Now there isn't another one coming up behind.

Why do I love the 18-24 month stage so much?  Because so much happens.  Its when language develops and they start talking.  That in and of itself is enough entertainment.  For example, his first words were "Go gamecocks" thanks to our next door neighbors corrupting his innocent mind.  But he has quickly learned the Clemson cheer after his first game last week.  Or riding in the car to pick up Macey last night, he was so excited to see her after a week without her, he keeps telling me to, "Go faster Mommy, go faster!" Then watching the Clemson game tonight, the first words out of his mouth were a "Sammy, Sammy" chant from hearing us yell for Sammy Watkins.

Another reason I love this age is because the toddler's personality starts to shape.  Wes' personality is so different than any of the other three and so entertaining.  He wants to make sure he has a special place in this family.  He likes making people laugh.  He is the first to give a hug when someone is crying.  He wants to be independent but isn't afraid to ask for help when he needs it.  He loves his family.  And he really just loves life in general.
I will close with this disclaimer.  Do I want more kids?  Yes, I think there is a part of me that will always want to have another one.  Am I content with the four God has blessed me with?  Absolutely! So will there be more....
Well, the arrangement was I am allowed to run as many marathons I want as long as I don't get pregenant.  I am training for my third one since Wes was born.  So there is the answer....for now. :)
